作者簡介: Leo Lionni, an internationally known designer, illustrator, and graphic artist, was born in Holland and lived in Italy until he came to the United States in 1939. He was the recipient of the 1984 American Institute of Graphic Arts Gold Medal and was honored posthumously in 2007 with the Society of Illustrators’ Lifetime Achievement Award. His picture books are distinguished by their enduring moral themes, graphic simplicity and brilliant use of collage, and include four Caldecott Honor Books: Inch by Inch, Frederick, Swimmy, and Alexander and the Wind-Up Mouse. Hailed as “a master of the simple fable” by the Chicago Tribune, he died in 1999 at the age of 89.

　　李奧尼是一個才華橫溢、不受拘束的藝術(shù)天才，繪畫、雕刻、平面設(shè)計、印刷、陶藝、攝影......樣樣精通，曾任美國《財富》雜志設(shè)計主管長達(dá)10年。其間，他多次在歐洲和美國舉辦個人畫展、設(shè)計展，并曾擔(dān)任美國平面造型藝術(shù)學(xué)會主席、1953年度國際設(shè)計大會主席。1955年獲美國平面造型藝術(shù)協(xié)會最佳廣告制作美術(shù)指導(dǎo)獎、1956年獲建筑聯(lián)盟金牌獎。1984年獲頒美國平面造型藝術(shù)學(xué)會獎時，他受到這樣的評價：他通過自己的藝術(shù)創(chuàng)作、設(shè)計創(chuàng)作，對設(shè)計領(lǐng)域的領(lǐng)導(dǎo)和人才培養(yǎng)，以及通過為孩子們創(chuàng)作繪本，深深地影響了至少三代人。人文主義和理性主義自始至終貫穿著他的作品。

　　他的繪本獲獎無數(shù)，其中《一寸蟲》、《小黑魚》、《田鼠阿佛》、《亞歷山大和發(fā)條老鼠》分別于1961年、1964年、1968年及1970年四次榮獲美國凱迪克大獎。1999年10月，這位被譽(yù)為“色彩魔術(shù)師”的繪本大師在意大利與世長辭，享年89歲。
